PNG Health Workers To Assist Samoa

24 health workers from PNG will be going to Samoa to help their health workers in the measles outbreak.

This was announced by Papua New Guinea  Health Minister Jelta Wong.

Minister Wong says the 24 health workers, mostly nurses, will be dispatched to Samoa to help in the measles vaccination.

This arrangement will also strengthen diplomatic ties between PNG and Samoa.

Minister Wong says our health workers, especially nurses, need more training on how to respond to emergency inorder to improve health service delivery.

Meanwhile, according to Radio New Zealand, the measles death toll in Samoa has risen to 79, most of them are children under  5 years old.
