Suspects Arrested For Cops Murder In Madang

Five suspects have been arrested late last week and will appear in court sometime this week over the killing of the policeman in Madang on the 13th of December 2019, that has made headlines in the past weeks.

Madang Provincial Police Commander Mazuc Rubiang says the five arrested are all from Biwat in East Sepik Province and reside around the Jomba store area.

One of the suspects is the son of a Walium based policeman.

The PPC says three were apprehended by the police investigation team while three voluntarily surrendered with the assistance of community leaders.

The killing of the policeman also led to the burning of more than 50 houses at Wagol settlement in retaliatory attacks by police and the relatives of the slain policeman.

Meanwhile in an effort to address the escalating law and order issues that have gripped the once peaceful township, Police Minister and local MP Bryan Kramer recently announced that four mobile units, two from Lae (MS 13) and two from Goroka (MS14) will be deployed to Madang in the second week of January to carry out a major two month operation.
