Lawyer Lomai appears in Court

Senior lawyer Ben Lomai appeared before the Waigani Committal Court this morning on four counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Police arrested and charged Mr Lomai last Monday after interviewing him in Port Moresby.

The charges relate to two cases he filed in the National Court and one in the Supreme Court on instructions from his client Madang Governor Peter Yama to stop police from interviewing and arresting Mr Yama.

The fourth count relates to an attempt by police last month to arrest Mr Yama at Jacksons airport and bring him in for interview in which police say they were diverted.

The case has been adjourned to 10th April.
