PNG Govt imposes Travel ban due to COVID-19
The Papua New Guinea Government has placed a 60-day travel ban on all overseas travel for Public servants until a further review is done.
This is part of the Government drives to better prepare the country against the coronavirus entering the country.
Other measures taken so far include preventing all passengers from traveling into Papua New Guinea from mainland China, South Korea, Japan, Italy, and Iran, which are critically red-flagged countries.
Prime Minister James Marape in his address to the nation yesterday, said all the passengers traveling in from these countries must produce evidence of 14-days of quarantine in their respective countries and must have evidence of medical clearance before they board an Air Niugini flights.
Meanwhile, the Health Department has also advised the general public, which includes private businesses, holidaymakers, and sporting teams to limit their travel overseas.
Health Department had already placed the ban on all its staff a month ago.
In the meantime, there is no Coronavirus in the country and the government through the health department and other line agencies are giving their best to protect the country from the virus by lifting protective measures at all ports of entries.
But citizens are also advised to play their part by practicing necessary personal hygiene at home, workplace, and schools.
Also, it's advisable to eat healthily to boost the immune system and stay healthy as much as possible.
