PNG to get More Testing Kits for COVID-19

Papua New Guinea Health Minister Jelta Wong said additional testing kits for COVID-19 or Coronavirus will arrive in the country this week.

More are expected in the near future as the country continues to improve its preventive measures on the deadly pandemic.

Mr. Wong said several more testing facilities are expected as well with Port Moresby facility to operate mid this week.

He said the facility will have the capacity to conduct 200 tests per day.

He said collectively, by the first quarter of April, PNG will have the ability to conduct 700 tests per day.

Meanwhile, the minister said a total of 29,166 passengers have been screened so far.

Wong told reporters, over 55% were persons of interest and they were all cleared and only 8% are under investigations.

Minister Wong provides an update on the testing kits and facilities including the number of persons screened and cleared as of three oçlock yesterday, Saturday 28th of March, 2020.
