Two Suspects caught for Armed Robbery and car theft in the eve of COVID-19 Lockdown
A gangster is recovering from a gun shot wound while another is in police custody after a dramatic car chase in Port Moresby in the eve of Coronavirus lockdown.
Four men armed with a factory made pistol and two home made guns held up a family at 5 mile and drove off in their Toyota Harrier.
Members of the NCD Fox and Dog units were quickly alerted where they chased the gang into another street within the same vicinity at 5 Mile.
The suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled up a hill. They were pursued on foot by Police where two were apprehended.
In this ensuing chase, one of the suspects sustained a bullet wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The number of stolen motor vehicles in the City have reduced in the last two months.
"Our members have been alert and monitoring the method of operation as well as escape routes used by criminals when stealing vehicles. I am happy with the outcome today with the apprehension of the two suspects. I am very very pleased with the efforts of the Fox 200 units and Dog Unit" stated Mr Wagambie Jr.
NCD Central Commander Assistant Commissioner Anthony Wagambie Junior said many of our citizens work hard to earn money or take out loans to buy cars.
"The victims feel so much pain when such expensive properties are stolen by criminals. "
"I am warning the youth who are involved in crime to quit their bad ways or face the full brunt of the law, you can get away with it but one fine day you will regret it!" ACP Wagambie said today.
