Sir Peter Ipatas warn Security Forces in Enga

Members of the Security Forces have been urged to uphold discipline at all times during the State of Emergency period.

Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas made the call, warning members of the police force in Enga province to perform their duties effectively or be kicked out of the province.

Sir Peter said Enga Provincial Government has put in measures in responding to COVID-19 and wants the police to enforce those measures.

These measures include betel nut ban and stopping market produce and other items in Western Highlands or any other nearby provinces to be transported to Enga to resell in the markets.

"Firstly there will be temptations to smuggle betel-nut, and many people will try to smuggle, a lot of times even for liquor, is the security forces normally involved in smuggling because they think that they are immune to arrest.

''So I want to have a discussion with the Police Commissioner when I am here in Moresby to make sure that one strike he or she is out of the force.

"And at this pointing time, I see policemen and women some of them are not really committed during this SOE period, so those are the individual that I want them out of my province,'' said Sir Peter.
