Two prominent Papua New Guinean appointed new Board of Directors of NASFUND

The National Superannuation Fund Limited or NASFUND has welcomed the appointment of two prominent Papua New Guinean's as new Board of Directors.

NASFUND Chairman Charles Vee in a statement said that they are George Panao, and Anthony Yauieb.

Mr. Vee said, Messrs Panao and Yauieb were recently appointed as independent directors to the NASFUND Board, replacing Vera Raga and Graham Ainui who retired at the end of February and March respectively.

Mr Panao is Head of External Affairs at British American Tobacco PNG, specializing in Government Engagements in Excise Reforms and Trade Agreements.

He is an accountant by profession, and holds an MBA from the University of New England, in Australia and has held senior positions in Marketing & Corporate Affairs, served on a number of public and private sector Boards including Water PNG, Solomon Islands Tobacco Company, and is currently a Director of the Manufacturers Council of PNG.

Mr Yauieb is an economist by profession, and holds a Maters in Economics from the Oxford University of United Kingdom, and currently serves as a Macroeconomic and Fiscal Policy Advisor with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as the Treasury Ministry.

He once served as Deputy Secretary Economic & Fiscal Policy with the Department of Treasury, and has sat on a number of public sector Boards including IPBC, Ok Tedi Mining, IPA and CAA as an ex officio and alternate to the Treasury Secretary.

He is also currently the President of the PNG Institute of Directors.

Mr. Vee said that the board has a desire to work with them to improve the Fund’s offering to its members, because their wealth of experiences and qualification will ensure that NASFUND continues to have a robust and balanced approach to how the fund is governed, for their members best interest.
