PNG LNG renews Sponsorship of PNG Kumuls
The PNG LNG Project, operated by ExxonMobil PNG, announced the continuation of its sponsorship of the PNG Kumuls Rugby League team at the Oil Search National Football Stadium in Port Moresby today.
“We have had a shared goal with PNG Rugby Football League and the national government and that is to support and develop the code of rugby league which has a common bond with the people in Papua New Guinea” says Executive Director of ExxonMobil PNG, Keith Killian.
Killian says over the past year the PNGRFL helped establish the Komo Rigby Football League in Hela Province with 20 teams comprising of senior men’s, senior women’s and Under 20 men’s competitions.
He says such inspirational stories tell them they are on the right path and that supporting rugby is an important tool to bring hope to the youth, changing their lives and strengthening communities.
He says their commitment to renew their partnership with the PNG LNG Kumuls was announced straight after the Kumuls defeated the Great Britain Lions last year.
Killian says that with their continued partnership with PNGRFL and the PNG LNG Kumuls, they look forward to more of this excitement as we prepare for the Kumuls participation in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup.
Meanwhile, PNGRFL chairman Sandis Tsaka one-half on PNG LNG Kumuls, the PNGRFL board and the greater rugby league fraternity across PNG, thanked Exxon Mobil PNG and the PNG LNG project, and its partners for the commitment to continue these support as the naming right sponsors.
He says Kumuls players have an important leadership part to play as ambassadors and role models, to have a positive influence on Papua New Guinean youth in particular, and are pleased to contribute to their success.
