PNG Health Minister Wong announces 16th COVID-16 case
Papua New Guinea Health and HIV/AIDS minister Jelta Wong is urging citizens not to be complacent but continue to practice hygiene protocols after NCD confirmed another covid-19 case.
This now brings the national tally to 16.
Mr. Wong says the 16th case is a male attached with the Central Public Health Laboratory (CPHL), and is the fifth member to be tested positive of the virus this week.
The announcement also confirms a cluster outbreak at the Laboratory in NCD, and there is a possibility that will see a rise in the coming weeks.
He says the rapid response team in NCD is now conducting case investigation, contact tracing and transporting of cases in collaboration with teams from the Health Department, St John Ambulance and the World Health Organization.
Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms, fevers, coughs, sore throats, body aches or breathing difficulties is encouraged to stay home and immediately call the toll-free line 1800 200.
Meanwhile, the 16 cases recorded are Port Moresby with 9, Western 3, East New Britain 2, Morobe 1 and Eastern Highlands.
