Late Sir Mekere Morauta's Body arrives in PNG

The body of former Papua New Guinea Prime Minister and Moresby North West MP late Sir Mekere Morauta arrived shortly before 2pm this afternoon at the Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby.

Sir Mekere's casket arrived on board PNG national airline Air Niugini's Boeing 767 along with his widow Lady Roselyn Morauta and son James.

A water salute was carried out by the National Airports Corporation upon taxing in.

Late Sir Mekere was received with a ceremonial guard of honor by the PNGDF personnel.

Prime Minister James Marape, Opposition Leader Belden Namah, NCD Governor Powes Parkop along with fellow parliamentarians and government officials were all present to receive his casket.

Late Sir Mekere was transported to the Funeral Home for his body to kept until the next program for his funeral next Monday.
