PNG Politics : Supreme Court to hand down decision on Parliament Sitting Today
The Supreme Court ruling challenging the decision of the Parliament Speaker to reconvene Parliament on November 17th will be handed down this morning.
The ruling is set for later today at the Waigani Court House in Port Moresby.
Both parties are already inside the courtroom.
Supreme Court ruling on the matter is expected to be handed down anytime from now.
The 5 men bench chaired by Chief Justice Sir Gibbs Salika, reserved its decision after hearing arguments from parties last Thursday.
They include the applicant, who's the former Prime Minister and Member for Ialibu Pangia, Peter O'Neill, and the Interveners - the Parliament Speaker and the Attorney General.
Mr. O'Neill is asking the Supreme Court's interpretation as to whether the Parliament Speaker has the powers to recall Parliament for the Budget Session.
This comes after the Opposition used its numerical strength to adjourn three days earlier.
