Sir Mekere's body Arrives on Thursday for a State Funeral

The body of late former Papua New Guinea prime ministers and Port Moresby MP, Sir Mekere  will arrive in the country on Thursday, December,31st, 2020, for his State Funeral.

Late Sir Mekere Mourata was the country's 7th Prime Minister.

According to statement released by organising chairperson and member for Port Moresby South Justin Tkatchenko,  the body will lie in State at the Grand Hall at Parliament from 10 am to 4 pm on Monday, January 04, 2021, to allow the public to pay their respect.

Those who wish to visit and pay their respects will be allowed to enter through the Parliament Front Gate.

A State Funeral will be conducted on Friday, January 08, 2021, at the Sioni Kami Memorial United Church between 10 AM to 12 PM.

The late Sir Mekere's body will be later laid to rest at the Independence Hill at Waigani.
