PNG International Edene Gebbie arrives in Australia to join NRL Club West Tigers
Papua New Guinea International Edene Gebbie has arrived in Australia but now in quarantine in Brisbane before joining NRL club West Tigers, the club said in a statement.
Edene will be quarantined in Brisbane for two weeks before he heads to Sydney to join the West Tigers club. The club thanked the Marsden State High in Brisbane for helping Edene Gebbie in his quarantine by supplying training equipment and gym gears.
'Gebbie has been signed a train-and-trial deal with the club late last year, the 25-year-old has been delayed in joining the club due to raft of travel and biosecurity issues, but the finish line is certainly in sight for the talented outside back.
Having starred for PNG Hunters and Wynnum-Manly in the Intrust Super Cup competition in Queensland, Gebbie will add further speed and competition for spots in the club's outside backs when he commences his train-and-trial contract.
Wests Tigers NRL squad kick off their season next Sunday against Canberra.
