AstraZeneca Vaccine best for PNG, says Dr. Mola

The COVID-19 vaccination roll out of AstraZeneca is very important, in PNG's health system context.

Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Port Moresby General Hospital Professor Glen Mola emphasised this, saying - with a system that is overwhelmed already with the lack of equipment, medicines, and staff testing - prevention is the safer option.

''If you get sick in a rural community in PNG, there is no intensive care unit,  there are no bottles of oxygen or even the presence of doctors to help you, so getting vaccinated is the best option for PNG at this time,''  said Dr. Mola.

Dr. Mola, who was among several health experts participating in a panel discussion on COVID-19 and the vaccine roll-out in PNG organized by the University of Papua New Guinea yesterday, highlighted this.
