PNG records three new COVID-19 deaths on Tuesday May 11
Papua New Guinea has recorded three new COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Tuesday, May 11, increasing the total number of deaths to 133.
The deaths were all reported in East New Britain province.
Also within the same period a total of 245 cases have been reported in 13 provinces.
East New Britain reported the highest number of cases with 93 followed by the National Capital District with 36. Morobe reported 30 cases, Madang 25, Western 14, Enga 11, Western Highlands nine, New Ireland seven, Jiwaka six, Hela and Central five each, Eastern Highlands three and West New Britain a single case.
Of the 245 cases recorded, 167 were males and 78 females. Their ages range between seven to 90 years. At the time of testing, 155 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 13,242 with 133 known deaths. So far, a total of 10,995 recoveries have been recorded with 2,114 active cases within the last 14-day period and 732 cases pending laboratory results.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 159,595,355 including 609,623 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is at 3,317,391 including 10,585 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
