PNG Hunters : Congratulations Wartovo Puara Jnr on your 115 games

SP PNG Hunter #9, Wartovo Puara Jnr, played his 115th match for the club in the Round 6 challenge against the Brisbane Tigers.

In a special jersey presentation, commemorating this milestone, Wartovo was presented his game jersey by Australian Kangaroos Head Coach, Mal Meninga, in front of the team and coaching staff.

“I am very happy to have played my 115th game it’s a big milestone for me personally. Being a Hunter is such an honour, it is almost like playing for the Kumuls, because you know you’re not just representing the club, but you represent a nation.” shared Wartovo on the achievement.

Wartovo debuted in the Hunters first ever match in the Intrust Super Cup against the Redcliffe Dolphins in 2014 at Dolphins Oval.

“He’s tough and really smart footy wise. He knows the game well and has a great technique defensively. He is also the cheekiest Hunter I’ve ever come across!” says long serving Head Trainer, Solomon Kuliniasi when describing Wartovo.

Playing for the team in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021, Wartovo has been an instrumental member of the club since its inception also having been a part of the memorable 2017 Intrust Super Cup winning team. The veteran Hunter has 27 tries under his belt and we are sure to see more of the leadership and experience he brings to the team as we continue the Hunt this season.
