Port Moresby launches campaign against 'Climate Emergency'
MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR PARKOP:
The future is at stake! And if we don’t act now, it may be too late!
Papua New Guinea is at a crossroads - a decision about our land, water, flora, fauna looms over us. Climate change, environmental damages, displacement, eco degradation are rampant across the world, including PNG. The clock is ticking, the alarm bells are ringing, yet we seem to be in deep slumber.

Not anymore!
We are uniquely placed in what could potentially be a defining moment for our country. We could take tangible action to protect the environment and reverse the havoc wreaked so far. We could use the next decade to focus on priority areas such as rising sea levels, inland flooding, climate induced migration, food insecurity, damage to coral reefs, diseases, sanitation and so much more.
This is also the time to make a bold statement of ambition - End round log exports, serious discussions on carbon trading, concentrated efforts on reforestation, and repair of coral reefs.
We could be #GenerationRestoration!
PNG is holding its first ever Environment and Climate Summit on June 4, 2021, to mark the World Environment Day. This is in collaboration with vital partners such as the Minister for Environment and Climate, Minister for Forests, CEPA, CCDA, NCDC, UNDP, and other stakeholders.
Join us in our campaign against the Climate Emergency! Let’s hit the reset button, PNG!
