Connect PNG is Flagship Policy of Marape Government
Chairman of the Connect PNG High Level Project Steering Committee and Secretary for the Department of National Planning and Monitoring Koney Samuel has reminded the members that Connect PNG is the flagship policy of Government.

Those who attended included Secretary for Works David Wereh, Secretary for Transport Roy Mumu, and other important stakeholders including Department of Lands & Physical Planning, Department of Agriculture & Livestock, Department of Prime Minister & National Executive Council, Department of Finance, PNG Dataco, PNG Power, and Transport Sector Support Program to name a few.
The meetings report on the progress of targets that have been set for the Connect PNG Project and Secretary Samuel said the ability of Government to deliver on this project depended on the support of stakeholder in the committee.
Secretary Samuel said while funding remains the biggest challenge, the committee is looking having the Connect PNG Funding legislated in order to have fixed financing year in the National Budget.
Works Secretary David Wereh said the committee is also working to have an autonomous system in place that cannot be affected by the influences of politics but rather allow work to progress uninterrupted.
Connect PNG will build roads and maintain existing ones that will connect areas in the country that have key economic activities, thus providing an enabling environment for significant economic growth.
