PNG Opposition leader Namah Questions the type of Advice Given During the UBS Loan Transactions

PNG Opposition Leader Belden Namah has hit out at the Prime Minister and other cabinet Ministers that were part of the ONeill government that approved the UBS Loan.

He says James Marape and all the former cabinet members were part of the decision making process.

Mr Namah has called on the prime minister to make a clear stance on the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the UBS loan currently into its remain two weeks of investigation.

All-State ministers in a democratic government are part of the Executive Government and whatever decisions they make are deemed collective in nature.

Mr Namah says, therefore, they are bound by the principles and practice of Cabinet Confidentiality and Solidarity.

The Opposition leader said it's so sad to see Mr Marape and the former ministers and public servants distance themselves from the USBS Loan deal.

He has questioned the type of advice and recommendations given to the Prime Minister at that time.

He further says, if their advice were not followed they should have resigned then, to save face.

Prime Minister James Marape told the inquiry last month, there was no cabinet meetings or decision in the cabinet as it was a one-man decision on the floor of parliament.

He further told the UBS Inquiry he had no involvement at all, accept to endorse and sign the document.

Mr Marape said all transactions were handled by the Treasury.

Former Treasurer Don Polye was sacked by O'Neill for opposing the UBS loan.
