PNG Elections : Nominations Open

 The nomination for the Papua New Guinea (PNG)  2022 National General Election started this morning at 8'Oclock.

PNG Electoral Commissioner, Simon Sinai told NBC News this morning that intending candidates are to start nominating at 8am and not at 4pm as was scheduled initially.

He clarified that as soon as writs were issued on Thursday, May 12th, the nomination was open.

But says he used his administrative powers to delay the nomination by a week in respect of the death of the late Deputy Prime Minister Sam Basil.

Commissioner Sinai has clarified that nomination is continuing and candidates can commence nominating this morning.

Meantime, the nomination closes on Thursday, May 26th.
