PNG PM Marape urges all Candidates to protect Election Process as Nominations begin
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape today (May 18 2022) urged all candidates in the 2022 General Election to protect the election process and maintain peace as nominations begin tomorrow (May 19 2022).
He wished candidates in the 118 seats throughout the country the very best as the 2022 elections begin with nominations.
Nominations start tomorrow and continue for a week until next Thursday.
“I want to wish all candidates and all political parties nationwide all the best in the elections,” PM Marape said.
“Let’s protect the election process, let’s maintain peace, and give the opportunity to our people to cast their votes in a fair, free and uninduced manner.
“The National Government will help as much as possible, by way of supporting the Electoral Commission, Police and other security.
“All we ask is that people support the process, do not be hostile, do not be rough, do not break laws during the elections.
“Every candidate has the right to contest and people, as long as you are over 18, have the right to vote for a candidate of your choice.
