A three-day State ceremony will be held in honour of the late Deputy Prime Minister and Bulolo MP, Sam Basil.
This starts today, (Monday, 16th May 2022) with a haus cry at the Sir John Guise stadium.
Housing Minister, Justin Tkatchenko who is also in charge of National Events says the public are welcome to attend.
After the State Funeral, the body of late Sam Basil will return to Lae on Wednesday for burial.
Given the short program, the National Government says it will celebrate his life and give him the full honour and dignity he deserves.
Other State ceremonies are also expected to take place in Lae, including a dedicated Public Holiday for Lae only to accord him a sit-in tribute.
