PNG Air announces 35th Anniversary Song Competition Winner
PNG Air is celebrating 35 Years of connecting Papua New Guinea in 2022, since the airline first took off in 1987. As part of our anniversary celebrations, we recently rolled out our 35th Anniversary Song Competition, which saw a large number of entries across the country. We are now pleased to announce the winner of the competition.
Congratulations to brothers Humene and Heni Walo.

When news of our promotion came out, Humene and Heni, from Central Province, jumped at the opportunity and started writing the track. ‘I visited the PNG Air website and got all the information from there, then started writing. Basically, it is the story of PNG Air from Milne Bay all the way through’, said Humene.
Heni, who sings the chorus and put the song together, said they were happy to receive the call that they had won. ‘We don’t know where we will go yet with our tickets, but we will think about it and go soon. Thank you PNG Air!’.
The Walo Brothers, who received their prize today at the PNG Air Head Office with their family, win K5,000 worth of flights to anywhere on our domestic network, and their track will be featured in our upcoming TV Commercial. The track will be available to hear for the first time on the 30th of June, our anniversary date.
Judging was based on originality, storytelling and staying true to the PNG Air spirit, and was greatly assisted by EMTV’s Vocal Fusion Singing Competition Judge, international singer/songwriter Lavina Williams.
‘The song was fresh, and checked all the boxes in the criteria. To create a song like this on the first go is so great and I hope that many more opportunities come for you both’, said an ecstatic Lavina.
PNG Air is also a proud sponsor of Vocal Fusion, supporting the growth of PNG’s Music and Creative Industry.
PNG Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, Simon C. Pitt further added, ‘the airline is delighted to have opened up opportunities to engage with the community for the 35th Anniversary, and to have found a song through the competition that resonates so well is fantastic. ‘
We thank all our entrants for participating, and encourage the public to follow our social media profiles on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and Twitter for all the latest competitions and news.
