New Zealand Government to support PNG Election committee Electoral Process

The New Zealand Government  has offered its support to the newly established Papua New Guinea Parliamentary Election Committee to address election related  issues encountered in this election.

New Zealand  Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta said this in a joint press conference between both countries this morning in Port Moresby.


Her PNG  Counterpart , PNG's Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko  says the New Zealand government will provide advice and support to the committee to get the election reform process right.

''We have just come out of an election and we have just set up a Parliamentary Committee to address election related  issues encountered in this election and East Sepik Governor Allan Bird will Chair the Committee.

''We are pleased that the New Zealand government is very keen in offering it's assistance in providing advise and other necessary support as we have many electoral issues such as the common roll,'' said Tkatchenko.     

Meantime,  New Zealand Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta says PNG has always been a strong partner and they remain committed to assist PNG.

''Every democratic societies continue to shift and improve their electoral process and New Zealand is happy to assist PNG improve its electoral process and strengthen the integrity of the electoral process,''said Mahuta .
