Law Governing Election of Prime Minister in PNG to be reviewed

The law governing the election of the Prime Minister in Papua New Guinea  will be reviewed in a nationwide public consultation by the Constitutional Law Reform Commission or CLRC.

This follows the launch of the Consultation into the Form and System of Government on the Election of the Prime Minister by the People today in Port Moresby.

PNG PM James Marape

Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister James Marape says the review is critical to audit the form and system of government and take stock of how far PNG has come.

''Today the CLRC presents to you an opportunity to construct the future of your country,  the country I want collectively.

''I appreciate the work of the CLRC, and I look forward to giving you total support,'' said Marape.

The review also coincides with the country’s 50th anniversary in 2025.

The event was witnessed by members of Parliament,  departmental heads, and other stakeholders.
