PITAA delegation Makes Grand Arrival in PNG's Mt Hagen city

The 2023 Annual Heads Conference of the Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association (PITAA) kicked off in grand style on Sunday, September 24th, 2023, with a warm welcome reception held at the Kagamuga International Airport's International Terminal. Present at the airport to receive international guests were the Commissioner General and Commissioner of Tax of the Internal Revenue Commission, along with the Western Highlands Provincial Administrator, Provincial Police Commander, Officer in Charge of Defence on the ground and other dignitaries.

Arriving from Port Moresby were Heads of Tax Administrations and representatives from various Pacific Islands countries including Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. The conference also drew international stakeholders and partners who traveled from across the world, further enhancing its global significance. Distinguished organizations and entities in attendance included the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Australian Tax Office (ATO), Bearing Point Caribbean, Commonwealth Association of Tax Administration (CATA), Data Tech International, Governful LLC, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Oceania Customs Organization (OCO), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Data Torque, and the Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Center (PFTAC).


Awaiting at the conference host facility, Mara Haus, was none other than the host Governor, Hon. Wai Rapa, the Governor of Western Highlands Province, Member for Mul Baiyer Hon Jacob Maki, the Mount Hagen City Authority CEO and other dignitaries. This marked the beginning of what promises to be an enlightening and productive conference, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among the finest minds in tax administration from across the Pacific and beyond.
