Tigers Secure NRL Star Justin Olam on Three-Year Deal

In a major coup for the Wests Tigers, the National Rugby League (NRL) team is thrilled to announce the signing of former Melbourne Storm center, Justin Olam, on a lucrative three-year deal. The Papua New Guinea international has been officially released from his contract with the Storm and is set to join his new teammates at Wests Tigers on Monday.

Olam, a seasoned player and the 2021 Dally M Centre of the Year, boasts an impressive record with 46 tries in 104 appearances over six seasons with the Melbourne Storm. Having made his NRL debut in 2018, the 30-year-old has been a key contributor to the Storm's success, including a premiership win.

The experienced center has represented his country in international competitions, earning caps on 14 occasions since his debut for Papua New Guinea against Fiji in 2016. Wests Tigers head coach Benji Marshall expressed his excitement about Olam's arrival, highlighting the player's leadership qualities and on-field communication.

“Justin is a world-class player who will bring plenty of experience to our team,” Marshall said. “His leadership and communication will be very valuable to our club. It’s a pleasure to welcome Justin and his family to our family at Wests Tigers.”

In response to joining the Tigers, Olam expressed eagerness for the next chapter in his rugby league career. “I was really impressed by Benji [Marshall] and his vision for me and the team, and it’s so exciting to be here,” Olam said. “I’m keen to put in the work and win the trust of the boys and the coaches at training, and hopefully contribute to what the club is building.”

However, the Tigers' gain comes with a loss, as 23-year-old forward Shawn Blore has been granted a contract release to make a move from Wests Tigers to the Melbourne Storm in the coming days. Despite missing the entire 2022 season due to injury, Blore played 33 games for Wests Tigers in his four-year tenure. Marshall conveyed the club's best wishes to Blore for his future endeavors, acknowledging his significant contributions to the team.

“We wish Shawn all the best with his future and thank him for his contribution to Wests Tigers,” Marshall stated. “He’s a great person, and he’s developed some lifelong friendships in his time at our club.”
