Chinese Government Donates $100,000 to Papua New Guinea Disaster Relief Efforts

In a significant gesture of support, His Excellency FanHua, the Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea, delivered a substantial cash donation of USD 100,000.00 on behalf of the Chinese Government. This generous contribution is earmarked to fortify the initiatives of the National Disaster Center Trust Account in Papua New Guinea.

According to the Papua New Guinea Defence Minister Dr. Billy Joseph the presentation ceremony unfolded at the esteemed Stanley Hotel on Saturday night, marking a pivotal moment in the collaboration between the two nations.

Acknowledging the instrumental role played by the Papua New Guinea Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Justin Tkatchenko, in facilitating this substantial donation, underscores the depth of cooperation between the two countries.

Furthermore, in a demonstration of solidarity and humanitarian commitment, Papua New Guinea has warmly embraced and sanctioned the Chinese government's proposal to dispatch relief supplies to Port Moresby. Military assets, including cargo planes, will be deployed exclusively for humanitarian relief endeavors.

In an expression of gratitude on behalf of the government and the people of Papua New Guinea, Hon Dr. Billy Joseph, Minister of Defence, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to the government and people of China for their unwavering support during this challenging period.

"On behalf of the government and people of PNG, I thank the government and people of China for their support in our time of need," he said.
