Tkatchenko emphasized that PNG’s stance on Ukraine is based on the principle of being a responsible global citizen. He highlighted PNG's foreign policy of ‘Friends to all, enemy to none,’ which he said aligns with the country's international commitments and relationships.

“We have similar experiences in the Second World War, and the last thing we want is another war in the Pacific region,” Tkatchenko said, stressing the importance of peace.

Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Minister Sybiha expressed his gratitude for PNG’s support, along with that of other countries, and assured Tkatchenko that Ukraine remains committed to ending the war.

The two leaders also discussed plans to formalize diplomatic relations, with Sybiha extending an invitation to Tkatchenko to visit Ukraine before the year’s end, while Tkatchenko invited Sybiha to visit Papua New Guinea.
