Day 3 of the 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup Football Conference featured an insightful session with Penrith Panthers CEO Matthew Cameron, who engaged with franchise chairmen, managers, and head coaches. Cameron shared his experiences in managing one of the NRL’s most successful clubs, providing valuable insights into leadership and team development.

Joining Cameron in the discussion were PNG NRL Bid CEO Andrew Hill, PNG NRLC Chairman Adrian Chow, and PNGRFL CEO. The session focused on key aspects of rugby league management, including club operations, player development, and long-term sustainability in the sport.

The conference included an interactive Q&A session, where franchise representatives had the opportunity to seek advice on strategies to enhance the competitiveness of PNG’s rugby league clubs. Cameron emphasized the importance of strong leadership, financial management, and grassroots development in building a successful team.

A major highlight of the conference was the discussion surrounding PNG’s upcoming entry into the NRL. The country has been approved as the 18th team and is set to join the competition in 2028. The session provided a platform for local rugby league leaders to gain firsthand knowledge from top-tier professionals as PNG prepares for its historic inclusion in the NRL.
