According to Marape, New Zealand has established itself as a global exemplar of democratic governance and economic resilience. He praised the nation for its robust free-market economy and strong democratic institutions, which have not only driven its own prosperity but also provided invaluable support to neighboring countries, including Papua New Guinea. He noted that New Zealand’s contributions extend beyond economic partnerships, highlighting its leadership in fostering unity and collaboration among Pacific Island nations.

The Prime Minister also underscored New Zealand’s pivotal role within the Pacific Islands family, describing the country as an anchor of stability and progress. For years, he said, New Zealand has demonstrated unwavering commitment to regional development, offering guidance and resources to uplift smaller nations. Marape commended the country for its inclusive approach, particularly its ability to embrace diverse opinions and celebrate the multicultural makeup of its society. These qualities, he remarked, serve as a model for other nations striving to build cohesive and harmonious communities.

In celebrating the anniversary of the Treaty of Waitangi, Marape lauded New Zealand’s leadership style as both exemplary and visionary. He highlighted the nation’s tolerance and respect for diversity as key attributes that resonate deeply within the Pacific region. The Prime Minister emphasized that these values align closely with the shared aspirations of Pacific nations, making New Zealand a natural leader in the region.

Marape concluded by reaffirming Papua New Guinea’s dedication to strengthening ties with New Zealand. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration in addressing common challenges and advancing the collective interests of the Pacific. As New Zealand reflects on the legacy of the Treaty of Waitangi, Marape expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, calling for deeper cooperation to ensure a prosperous and united Pacific region.
