Former PNG Kumuls Player Sought by Police Over Sexual Assault Case

Police in Port Moresby have identified former Papua New Guinea Kumuls rugby league player Gary Lo as a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into a recent sexual assault case.

According to a statement from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC), the 31-year-old athlete is being sought for questioning in relation to an alleged rape incident involving another man, identified as Mckenzie Mura.

Authorities reported that Mura, a 30-year-old from Kela Wagi village in Hagen Central, Western Highlands Province, was arrested and charged on the day of the alleged assault. He is currently in custody at Bomana Correctional Service.

Investigators believe that Gary Lo was present during the time of the incident and may hold vital information that could assist with the ongoing case. The RPNGC has issued a public appeal urging Mr. Lo to come forward.

The alleged victim, a young woman, is said to have had a short relationship with the suspect prior to the reported assault. Police are continuing their inquiries to ensure justice is delivered.

Members of the public with any knowledge of Mr. Lo's whereabouts have been asked to contact their nearest police station. Authorities have released his details, including his age (31), height (171 cm), and origin (Western Highlands Province), to aid in his identification.
