Fiji Outclasses PNG in Friendly Match as Nasau Nets Hat-Trick

Fiji secured a dominant 3-1 victory over the Papua New Guinea Women’s National Team (PNG WNT) in an international friendly held in Port Moresby, with Cema Nasau starring as the standout player. Nasau scored all three goals for Fiji, earning her the Man of the Match title in the team's second friendly match against PNG.

The match saw an early breakthrough from PNG when striker Marie Kaipu opened the scoring. However, Fiji responded swiftly, with Nasau delivering a powerful low shot that slipped past PNG goalkeeper Faith Kasiray to level the score before the halftime whistle.

Fiji gained control in the second half, with Nasau continuing her impressive form. The Eastern Suburbs FC (New Zealand) recruit found the net twice more, completing her hat-trick and securing the win for her side.

Fiji’s head coach Angeline Chua praised Nasau’s performance, expressing confidence that the forward will lead the Fiji Kula into next month’s Women’s Nations Cup. Chua also expressed appreciation to the PNG team for their competitive spirit and looked forward to a rematch in Fiji.

On the PNG side, head coach Eric Komeng acknowledged the result and admitted that his team had areas that needed improvement. Komeng emphasized that there are still five weeks to prepare for the Nations Cup and hinted at possible changes to the final squad.

The friendly match served as valuable preparation for both nations ahead of the 2025 Women’s Nations Cup, as they assess their squads and tactics in the lead-up to the regional competition.
