The PNG Sports Foundation CEO, Micah James, played a crucial role in preparing the agenda ahead of the Ministerial meeting, following a successful session by senior sports officials from MSG member countries.

Minister Basil expressed strong confidence that PNG is prepared to lead and deliver a successful tournament, noting that planning will begin immediately with support from MSG member states.

He told the meeting that the Local Organizing Committee would be tasked to coordinate with service providers and stakeholders to prepare the necessary logistics and infrastructure.

The tournament dates fall within the official FIFA window and are recognized under the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) framework as a tier one competition, ensuring a high standard of play.

Minister Basil also emphasized the unifying role of sports in strengthening ties among PNG, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and FLNKS, thanking his counterparts for their continued support of PNG’s hosting bid.
