SP PNG Hunters Gear Up for Redcliffe Dolphins Clash with Renewed Confidence

The PNG Hunters are intensifying their preparations ahead of their Round 12 clash against the Redcliffe Dolphins in the QRL Hostplus Cup this Sunday at the Santos National Football Stadium.

Head coach Paul Aiton revealed that following last weekend’s 20–16 victory over the Northern Pride, the team has been working hard to improve their set completions during training. He admitted their execution needs refinement, noting, “Our completion rate definitely needs work… we didn’t finish our sets well.”

Aiton acknowledged the strength of the Dolphins, saying they are a talented and well-coached side. He emphasized that the Hunters are treating the fixture with the same seriousness they give all their opponents.

The coach highlighted individual players who are stepping up, including Jordan Patt, who is expected to bring impact off the bench, and Manase Kai, who will start in the middle. Youngster Manuel Anis also earned praise for his recent performance and is being viewed as a potential long-term asset.

With finals contention in sight, Aiton noted that consistent performances from emerging players will be key in maintaining depth and momentum as the season progresses.

Five-eighth Gairo Voro is continuing to fill the shoes of injured veteran Joshua Lau. While his previous match was subdued, Aiton remains confident, stating that the young playmaker is learning quickly and has more to contribute.

The Hunters coach also thanked home fans for their continuous support, expressing that their energy plays a big role in boosting the players’ performance. Aiton said the team is determined to deliver another strong result to climb further up the ladder.
