The Kiriwina-Goodenough MP was responding to questions about a letter addressed to North Fly MP James Donald, dated June 11, which outlined his appointment as deputy leader.
The letter, signed by Tomuriesa, cited Donald’s continued mandate from the people of North Fly as the basis for the appointment and said he would now sit next to the Opposition Leader in Parliament.
It also noted that Donald would be allowed to appoint six staff members to be placed on the government payroll.
Tomuriesa insisted that the process of appointment was still in progress and should be respected, reiterating the Opposition’s unity and shared purpose.
He said the Opposition remains strong and is determined to hold the government accountable.
