US Breaks Ground on K1.6 Billion Jet Fuel Facility in PNG

Thousands of fans packed the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby on Wednesday night as international star Akon delivered a high-energy performance to mark Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence anniversary.

Excitement built throughout the day, with hip-hop fans lining up from as early as 2 p.m. Local performers and cultural dancers set the stage, blending tradition with modern artistry before the headline act.

When Akon finally appeared, the stadium erupted. He performed a series of his chart-topping hits, pausing to congratulate Papua New Guinea on its golden jubilee.

Security was tight but unobtrusive, and the concert concluded without incident as crowds left around 11 p.m.
