PNG Air Niugini Plane Makes Safe Emergency Landing After Technical Issue
Papua New Guinea’s national airline, Air Niugini, reported that flight PX205 from Rabaul to Port Moresby experienced a technical issue with its Dash 8 aircraft’s nose landing gear door on Sunday evening, 21 September, at around 6:23 pm.
According to Air Niugini, the pilots and crew followed the airline’s Standard Operating Procedures and executed an emergency landing at Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby. The aircraft touched down safely and was subsequently towed to the parking bay as a precaution.
Emergency services, including fire trucks and an ambulance, were on standby during the landing to ensure the safety of all on board.
The airline confirmed that all 46 passengers and three crew members were unharmed, with no injuries reported.
Air Niugini expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of passengers and their families, acknowledging any concern the incident may have caused.
The airline reiterated that the safety of its passengers and crew remains its highest priority.
