Tkatchenko reported that the talks covered a wide range of shared priorities, including energy and resources, climate change, renewable energy, investment and trade diversification, ICT, culture, and tourism.
He noted that since establishing diplomatic relations in 2017, the two countries have initiated three significant agreements—the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, the Double Taxation Agreement, and the Air Services Agreement. These are currently being driven by the Department of International Trade and Investment with backing from the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Further collaboration in ICT development, agriculture, forestry, and biodiversity was also discussed. Tkatchenko expressed appreciation for the constructive dialogue and reaffirmed PNG’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the UAE.
