Doiwa confirmed the new wage schedule will be gazetted and legally enforced next year after a comprehensive review. She emphasised that the decision balances the needs of workers and the realities faced by businesses.
According to Doiwa, the wage review included public hearings in 20 locations nationwide during 2024 and 2025. “This is not a unilateral decision. It is a product of collaboration and consultation with all stakeholders,” she noted.
She said the increase will bring much-needed relief to families struggling with the high cost of living and ensure a fair and just wage that reflects economic changes. The announcement has been welcomed by workers but signals adjustments ahead for employers across the country.
