Grade 8 Exams in PNG to Commence October 20 Amid Logistics Challenges
Papua New Guinea’s Department of Education has announced that the 2025 Grade 8 National Examinations will officially begin on Monday, October 20, though some schools may adjust their schedules slightly due to delivery delays.
Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra confirmed that exam materials were dispatched through Air Niugini Cargo, but flight rescheduling and weather disruptions have affected deliveries to a few provinces. Despite this, all exams are expected to finish by Friday, October 24.
Dr. Kombra said Provincial Education Authorities have been advised to make short-term adjustments where necessary but warned that “any further changes beyond this date must be approved by my office.”
He reminded schools to ensure the safe storage of exam materials and uphold the integrity of the testing process.
Provincial Education Advisors and Inspectors were also urged to provide timely updates to schools and monitor compliance.
The Department extended its gratitude to all provinces, teachers, and school administrations for their cooperation and commitment in delivering the 2025 Grade 8 National Examinations smoothly across PNG.
