He announced that education funding will increase to K4.9 billion next year, supporting tuition-fee-free subsidies, scholarships and the higher education loan scheme. The household assistance package remains at K1 billion, including K175 million for school project fees nationwide.
Health services also receive a substantial boost with a 15 percent increase, taking the allocation to K3.2 billion from this year’s K2.8 billion. As part of this rise, medical supplies funding grows from K240 million to K267 million, alongside other targeted improvements across hospitals and provincial health authorities.
Overall spending totals K30.9 billion, underpinned by K29.3 billion in projected revenue and a financing gap of K1.6 billion.
The budget further raises support for infrastructure and law and justice agencies, with the Treasurer describing these as essential to long-term national stability.
Parliament expects an official response from the Opposition today.
