PNG ICT Minister Welcomes Appointment of Polume Lume as NICTA’s Acting CEO
Acting Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Peter Tsiamalili Jnr has formally congratulated Polume Lume on his appointment as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Information and Communications Technology Authority (NICTA).

In a statement , Minister Tsiamalili said Mr Lume’s appointment comes at a critical time for the organisation, noting that significant work lies ahead in strengthening the country’s ICT landscape.
“Mr Lume has extensive expertise in the ICT sector, combined with years of experience in price regulation and the ICT market,” Minister Tsiamalili said. “I am confident in this appointment and look forward to working closely with him. This was a crucial vacancy that needed to be filled.”
Mr Lume steps into the role after serving as NICTA’s Executive Director for Economics, Consumer and International Affairs. His elevation follows the expiry of former CEO Kila Gulo-Vui’s term in October, after completing his full tenure.
According to Gazette Notice No. G1200 of 2025, issued on 20 November 2025, Mr Lume will serve as Acting CEO for three months, ending on 28 January 2026, or until a permanent appointment is made by the Appointments Committee.
With more than a decade of service at NICTA in senior management positions, Mr Lume brings substantial experience in ICT regulation and policy. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Queensland.
