PNG urges New Zealand to boost Investment as Trade Gap remains Wide

Papua New Guinea’s Parliament was the scene of a heated exchange when Chauve MP James Nomane pressed Prime Minister James Marape to account for K220 billion spent over the past six years.

Raising the matter during Question Time, Mr Nomane argued that accountability was overdue and called on the Prime Minister to stop linking the government’s challenges to the tenure of former leader Peter O’Neill. He said the people expected answers, not repeated blame.

Prime Minister Marape fired back by defending his administration’s record, saying all expenditures were properly captured in government documents and available for public review.

He maintained that the Opposition was attempting to “twist the facts and figures.”
