Revenue transferred directly to the Waigani Public Account totalled K2.68 billion, exceeding projections by more than K94 million, reflecting strengthened compliance and effective administration.
Prime Minister Marape said Customs revenue has grown steadily over five years, increasing by approximately K1.49 billion since 2020.
He said reforms implemented within the service, including modernised systems and improved enforcement, have played a key role in sustaining growth.
The Prime Minister acknowledged Chief Commissioner David Towe and senior management for leading reforms that improved trade facilitation and tightened border controls.
He said funds collected by Customs directly support essential government services and long-term development goals under the Government’s national planning framework.
Prime Minister Marape also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to continued investment in Customs infrastructure, technology and workforce development.
“PNG Customs remains a frontline economic and security agency, and I commend its officers for their hard work and commitment to serving the nation,” Prime Minister Marape said.
