establish a clear and accountable framework for managing student school fees provided under various sponsorship programs. The University said the move is necessary to safeguard financial integrity and ensure transparency in the handling of all assistance funds.

The Registrar highlighted several growing concerns, including unnecessary student demands for refunds of excess fees, dishonest attempts to seek multiple sponsorships, and deregistered students attempting to claim support under false pretenses. In addition, the institution has observed administrative and financial complications caused by reallocating excess fees between students.

Among the aims of the MOU are improving accountability, preventing misappropriation, and ensuring that all sponsorship funds are properly tracked. The University stressed that formal agreements will protect sponsors’ contributions while ensuring genuine students receive the assistance intended for them.

All sponsoring bodies are encouraged to liaise immediately with the Registrar’s Office to finalize MOUs. PNGUoT has warned that failure to establish such agreements may result in the University declining to process school fee payments that fall outside these formal arrangements.
