Australia and PNG partner to enhance digital forensic training for police

A joint effort between Australia and Papua New Guinea has delivered new forensic tools and specialist training to strengthen police investigative capacity in digital crime detection.

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, with support from the Australian Federal Police Pacific, has completed a five-day training programme focused on improving modern investigative techniques through practical digital forensics work.

The sessions were delivered with input from the RPNGC National Centre of Excellence, Australian Federal Police specialists, and officers from the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services, who contributed technical expertise throughout the course.

Organizers say the training is designed to equip officers with up-to-date skills in managing and analysing electronic evidence, an increasingly important area in policing operations.

The initiative reflects ongoing cooperation between Australia and PNG in strengthening law enforcement systems through shared training and resource support.
