The ceremony attracted a large turnout of invited guests from government agencies, private sector organisations and the Chinese community.

Ambassador Yang said the ship’s visit reflected the deep friendship shared between the two countries and highlighted China’s willingness to support PNG in meaningful ways.

He added that China is keen to further strengthen its relationship with PNG through practical cooperation that benefits ordinary citizens.

Mr Kapavore thanked the Chinese Government for its ongoing support, particularly in health development, and said the visit would provide much-needed services to local communities.

He said partnerships such as this play an important role in improving healthcare delivery in the country.

Ship commander Rear Admiral Fang Jinsong acknowledged the hospitality shown by PNG authorities and said his team was prepared to assist.

He said the vessel would offer free medical treatment and conduct professional exchanges during its stay. “We appreciate the warm welcome and look forward to serving the people of PNG,” he said.
