PNG and New Zealand Relations Set to Grow with Arrival of New Envoy

Papua New Guinea has officially welcomed the arrival of New Zealand’s new High Commissioner, signalling continued commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

PNG Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko extended a warm reception to Her Excellency Ms Georgina Roberts, who has taken up her post as New Zealand’s top envoy to the country.

Mr Tkatchenko said New Zealand remains one of PNG’s longstanding partners, with cooperation spanning development, trade and regional engagement.

He noted that both countries have maintained a strong relationship over the years, built on mutual respect and shared interests across the Pacific region.

The Minister expressed optimism that the appointment of Ms Roberts would further deepen collaboration and open new opportunities for engagement.

“Welcome to the new High Commissioner of New Zealand to Papua New Guinea, Her Excellency Ms Georgina Roberts. New Zealand is a close partner and friend to PNG, and we look forward to continuing growing our partnership now and into the future,” Mr Tkatchenko said.
